When they were finished with their coffee, they put their coats on and went outside to find Zach. They gave up after several minutes of looking and calling out.

“He’s gone for a long walk, I guess,” Pattie said.

“He can’t have plans. Why don’t you leave him a note?”

“Nee, he’ll figure out I’ve gone somewhere. Besides, he might not be back until after we return.”

“Okay, well, let’s go.” They climbed up into the buggy. “First we’ll have to stop by Mary Lou’s and she can figure out how much fabric we’ll need. I suppose I should have her give me some lessons. I can sew okay, but she’s better than anyone I know. She could make a good living out of it.”

“Okay. I’m in your hands. Make me look as pretty as you.”

Magnolia smiled at Pattie and found she was beginning to like her a little more.
